Welcome to our brand new Toy Drive blog. We are so happy you came to visit us. As many are aware, NYC was hit with what people are calling the worse hurricane and natural catastrophe in the city for the past 100 years. Even though we are more than 5 weeks past the infamous Hurricane Sandy, many areas in the city are still reeling under its devastating affects. One of the most hard hit areas in the city is Far Rockaway in Queens. See photo below left, taken from the area, after it was hit by the menacing storm.
How we thank God for Jessica Camacho, her husband, Rick and their 4 sons, who live in Manhattan. Mrs. Camacho felt God urging her and her family to reach out to some of the neediest folks in Far Rockaway. So rather than having their own private family Thanksgiving Dinner they, like many other "good Samaritans", decided to go and feed some of the families in Far Rockaway, who had lost their homes and now would be without their normal festive Thanksgiving meal, as well. Now Jessica & Rick are having a special Toy Drive for children who attend P.S. 104 in the Rockaways. (see three Far Rockaway students wearing their pajamas and robes to school, in the photo directly above.)
Jessica has solicited the help of yours truly & AICHINA Inc. to assist her in strategizing, preparing and gathering donations and volunteers for this noble effort. I am thrilled to have the opportunity of being just a small part of putting this Toy Drive together and I want you to be involved too.
When is the Toy Drive to take place?

What do we intend to do? Feed and bring joy to over 700 children or more by feeding them, providing special entertainment via clown/puppet ministry, mime, rap, skits, dance, face painting, balloons and singing, encouraging and engaging them with the true message of Christmas...the message of love. Then to top off the day, each child will be given a brand new toy that he/she can cherish and enjoy in the weeks and months ahead, while they and their families are getting their lives back. Lastly, each child will go home with a Christmas goodie bag stuffed with delicious Christmas treats.
Won't you help us to make what would ordinarily be a very sad and troubling time for children, recently traumatized by the after effects of Sandy, a surprisingly joyous celebration instead? You can be a valuable part of this outreach, even from the comforts of your home, by donating unwrapped new toys and/or giving your best financial gift, allowing us to buy the additional 825 gifts needed for our target of 1000 Christmas toys. Any toys not distributed the day of the Toy Drive will be given to other children affected by Hurricane Sandy who weren't expecting to receive a Christmas toy this year. Money received over and above the cost of the toys will be spent to help underwrite the expense of hosting this event. All financial gifts made out to AICHINA Inc and designated: 'FRCCTD2012' are tax deductible.
